Amazing Aerial Snapshots of NYC by Vincent Laforet
Photographer Vincent Laforet has taken some beautiful aerial photographs of New York City that were shot from a helicopter. On the ‘very dark and chilly night’ he said that, “It is both exhilarating and terrifying all at once,” when he spoke to Gizmodo. “Let’s start off by saying this was the scariest helicopter ‘photo mission’ of my career, and the most beautiful.”
“One veteran pilots that we often fly with refused to go up to the altitude we were at. He said that ‘helicopters are not meant to live in that realm’—which I kind of agree with following this flight. […] It was a pain in the ass to get the clearance [to fly at that altitude over NYC] and [you have to] have the right gear.”
The images were taken on a Canon IDX and the Mamiya Leaf Credo 50MP at 3200 & 6400 ISO, matched with a number of f2.8 to f1.2 lenses with a few tilt-shift lenses.
